I have two dogs. Their names are Sugar and Sadie. They are both Shih Tzus. My family got Sugar when I was two years old, so she is now fifteen years old. We got her as a surprise for my sister for Valentine’s day. Sugar has white and gray spots. She also has arthritis in one of her legs and she’s almost blind and deaf. Even though most of the time she doesn’t listen or mostly just doesn’t move in general, I still play with her.

Sadie is the complete opposite of Sugar. Sadie has white and black spots. She isn’t even close to being blind or deaf. She loves to run around in the grass and play. I’m not sure how old I was when we got her, but I remember I asked for a dog for Christmas and there she was. She was in a plastic bin with a pink blanket, and when I walked into the living room, I screamed because I was so excited and she peed on the blanket.

Truth be told, it is kind of hard to remember most of what we did this semester. Overall, we learned about different types of storytelling, Beowulf, Perceval, and the Canterbury Tales, many different poetry terms, the Truth or Dare slides, and we also learned how to correctly annotate a poem and what to do if we are confused by words or the poem in general. When you don’t know how to annotate a poem, you need to go through any steps that you think will help you understand it. For example, try to learn the mood/tone, what feelings does the poem give, or maybe try connecting it to the period the poem was written.

My favorite thing we learned this semester was reading different stories to learn about different types of storytelling. I liked how there was a variety between the three stories. After we finished reading Beuwolf and started reading Perceval, I thought that they were going to be similar because they were both about heroes and their journeys. But that was the point, we had to tell the difference between the two types of storytelling and also the stories. To me, learning something first, then learning something else was comparing the two is a very interesting way to learn!
